Facilities
Northern Frontier Camp owns 167 acres within New York’s Adirondack State Park. The camp’s 45 structures are built along the southern edge of OK Slip Pond, a pristine 40-acre central Adirondack lake. The camp is tucked away at the northern end of OK Slip Road, a three-mile dirt road off Route 28, in the town of Indian Lake, NY.
In the center of camp is our Dining Hall, Administration Building (Ad Building), and Health Hut. To the east is the Stockade end of camp, to the west is our Waterfront and the Battalion end. Each end of camp has its own campfire site at the edge of OK Slip Pond, complete with amphitheater log seating. Each evening at dusk the entire camp gathers there for a time of fellowship, fun songs, a skit, and a campfire story.

Our spacious Dining Hall is at center stage, as it houses the entire camp each day for all three meals and Sunday worship services. There’s even the occasional sock hockey game and all-camp campfire services on rainy days.
Campers sleep in wood cabins on bunks with mattresses. Each cabin comfortably sleeps 8-9 campers and two counselors. Wash houses, which have private showers and bathrooms, can be found only a few yards from each cabin.

Our Waterfront has a sandy beach for volleyball and sandcastles (and frog races, of course), individual cubbies for towels, shirts, and sandals, and a foot faucet to rinse off the sand. Staffed by Red Cross certified lifeguards and a Water Safety Instructor, campers can swim, dive, and fish. Additionally, our waterfront is home to a respectable fleet of canoes, sailboats, funyaks, kayaks, and rowboats.
Near the waterfront is our fully-stocked Craft Shop with both power tools and plenty of hand tools to go around. Woodworking skills are taught, monitored, and nurtured with a focus on safety first.
Our Camp Store is located on the porch of the Ad Building and is open to campers during their free/swim time. It’s not uncommon for soccer, ga-ga, and tetherball games to break out during free time.

A short walk from the center of camp are four shooting ranges for .22 rifle (battalion-age campers only), air-rifle, archery, and slingshot. Each range is strictly run by a counselor who has been NRA-certified to be a range safety officer and who will instruct on the proper usage and safe handling of each craft.
Our newest area of camp is our expanding high ropes area complete with a custom-built rock climbing wall, a 440′ zip line, and an HC (holy cow) swing. All our apparatus get certificates of safety and our staff is trained to run the activity properly and safely.
