Mickey Sammons
Business Manager
Captain Mickey, as he is known at Northern Frontier, started as a camper at Mountain Lakes, in CT, and on staff at camp in Freehold, NY. In 1971, he and his wife Joanne returned to visit NF and had a long talk with then-Director Bruce Baker, who asked Mickey to consider being the Battalion Program Director. Joanne and Mickey were both excited and felt called to come back. Mickey has served at Northern Frontier since 1972 as Battalion Program Director, father/son trip leader, Tree Climber leader, Father/Son Camp Coordinator, Business Manager, and Chief “Stud Muffin” (until Chris Studley took over). Peggy Spain, RN
Camp Nurse
Nurse Peggy has been the camp nurse for 20+ years, our staff's First-Aid/CPR instructor, and official lost and found sorter/cleaner. She began at camp as an EMT and became an RN in 2004. Peggy's goal for each summer is to be the most bored person in camp! Peggy is married to her husband, Dave, with four kids and four grandkids. All four of her children have worked at Northern Frontier and her daughter even met her husband at NF! Peggy is proud to have 3 generations of campers in Tree Climbers! Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. —Philippians 2:1-4

Dennis McQuaid
Maintenance & Utility Man
Dennis attended brigade camp in CT and Freehold, NY with Capt. Mickey. He has been involved in battalion his whole life at church. In 1981, he finally had a weeks vacation from work and called Capt. Bruce to ask if he could volunteer for one week at camp... he's come back every Summer since, for at least a week, serving as a senior counselor. In 2006 he retired and started coming up to NF for the entire summer. Although he started on maintenance, the job title of “Utility Man” was created specifically for him! In Dennis’s words, “If there’s a job to do, I do it.” He is literally our vital behind-the-scenes guy! I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. – Psalm 34:4
