overview
For teen guys ages 13-17.
You’ll spend two and a half days canoeing, a day rock climbing, and two and a half days hiking in the Adirondack High Peaks with two leaders and five other guys. This trip requires you to be in really good physical shape. You will be hiking your equipment over several mountains, cooking meals, tenting, and purifying water. Throughout this trip, your leaders will encourage you and speak from God’s Word. The views are majestic and point you to our AWESOME Creator. You will be in the Adirondacks, where it is common to many forms of wildlife. Bring your camera, sense of adventure, and desire to grow closer to God.
After 2 ½ days, a 15-passenger van from NF will pick up your group and take you to your next destination. You will load canoes or kayaks and make for your tent site from there. After paddling with a possible portage, you will be picked up again late in the morning on the second day. Your leaders are trained and will guide you through those tough obstacles.
The third part of the trip is an afternoon of rock climbing. Your group will be driven in the van to a cliff in the Adirondacks. After a short hike with climbing gear and lunch you will be taught harness, belaying, and knot safety, as well as cliff ethics and commands. The climbing instructor is experienced and has been given training on how to set up a top-rope climb and anchor at that particular cliff. The other leaders will work with the climbing instructor to provide safety, encouragement, and assistance where needed. You may be on a cliff 40ft high to 150ft high. All equipment will be provided (harness, helmets, belay device, and rappel gloves) however if you have your own pair of climbing shoes I highly recommend you bring them (they are expensive and not necessary though).
