OUR MISSION
TO GLORIFY GOD THROUGH DEVELOPING BOYS, YOUNG MEN, AND THEIR FATHERS INTO GODLY LEADERS THROUGH CHRIST-CENTERED WILDERNESS CAMPING, ADVENTURE-BASED ACTIVITIES, AND DISCIPLE-BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS THAT PROMOTE BIBLICAL VALUES.
At Northern Frontier, we create transformative experiences where boys, young men, and their fathers are challenged to grow through immersive Christ-centered wilderness camping. By engaging in adventure-based activities such as hiking, team challenges, and outdoor skills, participants are encouraged to develop essential leadership qualities. These activities are coupled with relational discipleship, where counselors and mentors walk alongside campers, modeling and teaching biblical values in everyday situations. Our programs intentionally nurture growth in faithfulness, wisdom, and humility, helping campers cultivate a heart for servant leadership. Through these experiences, they develop practical leadership skills rooted in self-control, integrity, and competence, preparing them to influence their families, churches, and communities for Christ.

OUR VISION
We envision a world where boys and men are equipped through the power of the Holy Spirit to lead their families, churches, and communities in Christ-like service, bringing lasting transformation to individuals and society.
At the heart of Northern Frontier’s vision is the belief that Christian wilderness experiences can shape future leaders who live out their faith in practical ways. We aim to see boys and men transformed by these experiences, equipped to lead with love, conviction, and passion for God’s work. As they develop confidence and courage, they will be prepared to face leadership challenges with a commitment to serving others. This transformation extends beyond the individual, as we envision these leaders communicating the Gospel within their families, churches, and communities, creating a ripple effect that fosters a culture of Christ-like service. Our goal is for participants to bring about lasting change through the power of faith-driven leadership, leaving an enduring impact on society.

OUR STORY
Northern Frontier Camp is a place where stories are told. Moments become memories grown and passed around a campfire, hiking on a trail, or traveling home from another adventurous week at camp. Each experience becomes part of the story we’ve been telling since 1946.
First known simply as Frontier Camp, we started as a group of men committed to the cause of building up the next generation of godly men. They were spurred on by Joe Coughlin, a visionary ministry leader and founder of Christian Service Brigade. Known as the Frontiersmen, they traveled in station wagons, hosting weeklong campouts. Boys came to learn skills, play games, and hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
For twenty years, faithful men like Lee Troup and Bruce Baker kept the camp growing as it moved from various locations. In 1958, the Brigade Camping Association was formed to acquire a permanent place for Frontier Camp. After a lengthy search, the decision was made to lease a property in North River, New York, in 1964. The summer of 1966 welcomed the first cabins of campers, and we found a place to call our home.
From the beginning, Northern Frontier Camp has aimed to help boys and young men grow in their walk with God. We provide intentional challenges designed to encourage personal growth that is spiritual, physical, and emotional. Our campers engage in many activities where they gain experience in camp skills, grow in Godly character, and learn Christian service.
