  • How many campers are in a cabin?

    Cabins will have up to 7 campers.

  • How are campers assigned their cabins?

    We place campers with peers of a similar age. We try to honor cabin requests so long as it is mutual.

  • How many campers are at camp?

    Our camp’s capacity is about 100 campers per week. However, most campers experience camp within their age program. Campers can expect to be in large group settings with up to 50 boys their age. They will experience various skill activities in smaller groups of about 8 to 16.

  • How many age groups are at camp?

    Campers are age 6-16. The youngest age group is called Tree Climbers, which is a three-day Father & Son program for boys ages 6 and 7. At age 8, campers can attend a full week of Stockade camp. Then at age 12, campers move to our Battalion camp which goes up until the age of 16. At the age of 14, many of our campers opt-in for one of our trips or participate in our leaderhsip programs CORE Training and Service Crew.

  • What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?

    We maintain a ratio of 2 or more counselors for every 8 campers.

  • Can my son bring an electronic device to camp?

    Camp is a device-free zone. Campers engage and interact with the people and world around them by unplugging from these electronic distractions. This allows for healthy and rapid growth.

  • What activities will my son do while he is at camp?

    We offer dozens of activities for your son to be involved with including Rock Climbing, Rifle Shooting, Archery, Wood Working, Sailing, Fishing and much more.

  • How do you hire counselors and staff?

    We seek staff members who are passionate about serving Christ, love the outdoors, and are excited about youth development. Many of our staff start out as Northern Frontier campers while are others are invited by our current staff and alumni. Each staff person goes through an application process, are interview, have reference and background checks completed, and then attend staff training at camp.

  • Is camp safe?

    Northern Frontier holds itself to the highest health and safety standards for summer camps. Our camp is accredited by the American Camp Association, which confirms that we comply with their standards of professional practices in all areas of operation, including facilities, health and safety, food service, staffing, and program.

  • What if my son has a birthday while he is at camp?

    We celebrate every birthday at camp. At dinner time on your son’s special day, the entire doing hall will sing the traditional birthday song while he blows out the candles on his ice cream sundae!

  • My son is a picky eater, what kind of food do you serve?

    We have a wide variety of balanced meals which encourage our campers to try new things, while also maintaining a baseline of familiarity. Breakfast can include eggs, sausage, pancakes, fruit, and cereal. Lunch and dinner may include chicken, pasta, sandwiches, fish, mashed potatoes and vegetables.

  • What about my son’s dietary or allergy-related needs?

    Our kitchen crew can accommodate dietary needs. Any food allergies should be discussed before your son’s arrival to ensure that we can accommodate your son’s needs.   • Do you have any discounts or scholarship?

    Yes, we offer both discounts and scholarships. The discounts may change year-to-year, but most families find theya re eligible for some savings.

  • Do you offer a camp program for girls?

    Camp Cedarbrook in the Adiondacks is only a short distance from ou r camp and offers quality camping experience for girls that shares our values.

Father & Son Camp

  • Who is Father & Son Camp for?

    Father & Son Camp is for dads and sons ages 8 and up who want to spend intentional time together in a Christ-centered wilderness setting. Whether you’re new to camp or returning for another summer, it’s a time to unplug, have fun, and build your bond in the outdoors.

  • What’s the difference between Tree Climber and Father & Son Camp?

    Tree Climbers is for boys ages 6–8 and follows a more structured, age-appropriate program. Father & Son Camp is for boys 8 and up, with wider access to activities and a bit more freedom in how you spend your time.

  • What’s the daily schedule like?

    Mornings begin with breakfast and a short Bible lesson. Days are filled with activities, meals, rest time, and shared cabin devotions in the evening. Campfire is a highlight each night—expect singing, stories, and a message that encourages both dads and sons.

  • What happens if it rains?

    We run rain or shine. We adjust the schedule as needed and have plenty of indoor activities. Come prepared with waterproof gear and an open mind. Some of the best memories are made in the rain.

  • What’s the sleeping situation?

    You’ll stay in a shared cabin with other father-son pairs. Each has bunks and basic storage. Modern bathrooms and hot showers are a short walk away. You’ll need to bring your own sleeping bags, pillows, and towels.

  • What if we have dietary restrictions or allergies?

    Our kitchen is equipped to accommodate most common food allergies and restrictions. Be sure to indicate dietary needs when registering, and we’ll be in touch if we need more info.

  • Is it safe?

    Yes. Northern Frontier is accredited by the American Camp Association. All activities are run by trained and certified staff. Our health center is staffed with a licensed medical provider, and all cabins are checked in daily by a Director or Senior Staff member.

  • Can we bring our phones or tablets?

    Nope—and that’s the point. Camp is a screen-free zone. We want you fully present with your son and immersed in the wilderness. If there’s an emergency, our staff will help you get in touch with home.

  • Can I bring more than one son?

    Absolutely. Just indicate that on your registration form. There’s an additional fee per son, and we recommend bringing another adult if you’re bringing more than two boys.

  • What if my son is nervous or homesick?

    That’s normal, especially for first-timers. But the beauty of Father & Son Camp is that you’re right there with him. Our setting, schedule, and staff are all geared toward helping you create a shared, meaningful experience that puts him at ease.
