They Charge Like Warriors

“They charge like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. They all march in line, not swerving from their course.”

Joel 2:7

September marked the end of our 2026 program. It was a great summer of ministry! I have heard testimony of lives changed directly from campers, staff, and parents. It’s encouraging to see how the Lord is using our beloved staff to do extraordinary things in boys’ lives while serving at Northern Frontier. God doesn’t only use polished teachers and preachers; he is using willing and able young men who leave the comforts of home for the summer and live at NF to bring the Gospel to boys through wilderness camping, outdoor activities, and intentional disciple-making.

These men definitely charged like warriors for the kingdom of God! Their desire to grow in their faith, put the campers’ needs ahead of their own, and develop their leadership really makes for a successful ministry. When the staff realize that they all share similar struggles, interests, and love of the Lord, it is so beautiful to watch how friendships form, and we work in harmony and unity with each other. Our leadership team this summer has lots of NF experience. What a blessing to watch young men grow in leadership at NF over the years and then step into administrative roles. God has used this ministry, this place, and young men to see boys becoming godly men; we thank God for this legacy.

Our program directors this summer have served in their role for 4 years! Capt. Cole is a teacher giving his summers to serve at NF. He brings excitement to God’s Word and loves seeing campers have fun! Capt. Jacob has served as a full-time youth pastor and at NF in the summer. He and Cole have brought continuity, mentorship, and discipleship to our campers and staff; what a blessing! Our Service Crew Chief, Jason, returned for a 3rd summer, and our CORE and JCLT supervisor and Waterfront Director has led those programs for 2 years now.

These young men have risen to the challenge and modeled for our campers and fellow staff what it means to love and serve God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. These men have put in long hours, prepping, planning, praying, discipling, and leading boys and young men at NF. It is awesome to see them in their roles; God is using them in the lives of our campers while also growing their leadership abilities and their walk with Him. We thank these men and the entire 2026 staff and pray for the next generation God is preparing to step into these leadership roles as counselors and in other administrative roles this upcoming summer and beyond.
