The LEGACY campaign has been a BIG success! We have just crossed the halfway mark. While we still have a lot of money to raise for the remaining projects, we are counting our blessings for His daily provision.
A BIG project we are seeking funding for is our new lodge. This will be a place to encourage and mentor our campers and staff in the off-season. We look forward to securing a contracting bid to build the shell (foundation, walls, windows, roof, etc.) this winter and pray that God will bless us with the ability to break ground in spring of 2027. While we recently secured some large donations for this LEGACY project and others, we still need to raise just over $100,000 for the NF Lodge utilities, furnishings, and finishings once the shell is built. This November, we look forward to celebrating NF’s 80th anniversary with over 275 alumni. This will be a great evening of fellowship and of celebrating God’s faithfulness through the years, from Frontier Camp to Northern Frontier Camp.
In program development, we have implemented an intentional track to prepare 14-16-year-olds for leadership skills, growth in spiritual disciplines, and future camp staff positions. Two summers ago, we updated our CORE Training program and started our Junior Counselor Leadership Training program. We have also made big strides in improving our Tree Climber curriculum for the 6-8-year-olds who come with their fathers. We continue to desire that our camper numbers get back to the 700-800s range. To do this, we need to bring in more campers than last summer’s average: 21 campers per week in Stockade and 33 campers per week in Battalion. We would love both the prayer and support of our existing alumni to help promote and recruit new families to send their sons to NF!
Over the last 6 years, we have been building out our program activity areas inside our facility. We have added new ranges and structures to our Rock climbing, archery, riflery, and trap shooting areas. We have been working to create better storage structures for our activity areas to protect our equipment during the off-season. We have been working diligently on our new watershed and garage transformation and, praise God, we have received the funding needed to complete it! Once the garage is complete, we will transform our current garage into our new camp store and staff lounge, which we have also been given funding for in 2028! This, in turn, will open up much-needed workspace in our camp office.
The NF Board and I shared this vision in 2019, with the goals of investing intentionally and financially in relationships, developing programs, and stewarding our 60-year-old facility. These projects, as part of our Legacy campaign, are above and beyond our regular operating fund expenses. Our hope is to keep NF and its infrastructure thriving for the Lord’s work in future generations of boys, young men, and fathers until He returns. We praise God for His provision, and we wait on the remaining funds needed to complete this LEGACY campaign push. Our remaining target is $610,000.00 dollars.
Projects this year:
- Watershed to New Garage
- Finish potable water system relocation
- Relocate 2 storage containers and add a steel roof build over two of them
- Interior shelving, storage, and organization for New Garage and Tool Shed
- Lodge shell built
